The conditions of the geological, chemical and biological processes that shaped the oceans, the most widespread surface environment in the Earth most distant past are still largely unknown. Seeking biosignatures in the early Earth record is essential to understand the emergence of life. This session aims at bringing together researchers to discuss the interplay between living and non-living matter in deep time, linking conditions and processes in the oceans to biogeochemical evolution.
